And Here's How You Can Help!

Once upon a time, there were "grants." Grants came from private foundations and corporations, and even from our own government. Through these grants the arts flourished in America. Theatre and dance companies, public radio and public television, writers, and artists of all genres benefited and created works that challenged our conceptions and invigorated the human spirit.

And then, without warning, many of these arts grants went and...disappeared. We're not sure where they went, or why they went...certainly they knew how much we needed them. But the results were the same: the arts suffered, and continue to. Funding from the California Arts Council, for example, all but evaporated and private foundation grants, feeling the pinch of the economy, became harder and harder for artists to get. Theatre companies were forced to scale back in scope; some have vanished into the ether altogether.

Play it by Ear Productions is still producing. I would like to say that that is because of my drive as fearless leader or shrewd business decisions, but the truth is that this company is still standing because of you, the listening audience.

Your donations allow Play it by Ear to pay for studio time, to produce compact discs, to pay the creative artists involved for their time and hard work, to reimburse their travel expenses, and to feed everyone at a voice-over or post-production session. A donation can be as much one hundred dollars or two hundred or more, or as little as twenty five dollars.

FIELD CD's: Play it by Ear is offering compact discs of The Field as a thank you gift! The cost per CD is $10.00 (including shipping and handling).

Play it by Ear Productions is a sponsored project of Fractured Atlas, a non-profit arts service organization. Contributions in behalf of Play it by Ear may be made payable to Fractured Atlas. The value of The Field CD is $2.50. Any contribution above that amount is tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law.

IMPORTANT: "Fractured Atlas" must be written on the check's "Pay to the Order of" line, with "Play it by Ear Productions" written on the check's memo line. You can mail your donations to:

Once the check clears with Fractured Atlas your CD of The Field will be mailed to you along with a receipt for your tax deduction!
